FSD5 Teacher of the Year: Brittany Carter

Teacher of the Year

Brittany Williams Carter has been selected as Florence School District 5 Teacher of the Year for 2022. Mrs. Carter was recognized at the district faculty event on Friday, July 29.  The district staff dressed as tourists and prepared for the upcoming year’s theme, “Passport to Success: Let the Adventure Begin.” The special Teacher of the Year Award was presented by Brian Goins, chief academic officer, and Allana Prosser, superintendent.

Mrs. Carter is a 2007 graduate of JHS.  She received a Bachelors of Arts in Music Education from Charleston Southern University, Masters of Music Education from the University of Florida, and Masters of Leadership from Coastal Carolina University.  She has also earned her National Board Certification. Mrs. Carter taught middle school music, chorus, show choir and drama at Rosemary Middle School prior to coming to Florence District 5. Since her time in FSD5, she taught at Johnsonville Elementary School for one year, and she currently teaches music at Johnsonville Middle School.  For the upcoming school year, she will continue to share her passion for music with her chorus and music students of Johnsonville Middle School and also Johnsonville High School.
